Susan CamprielloFeb. 19--Two 2,200-gallon fish tanks were unveiled this morning at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro and city officials. The tanks' construction and installation is part of an ongoing tourism effort officials hope will benefit the borough and the city alike.

Olivia PrattenFeb. 19--The Dominican Republic was the only country in the world to allow unlimited Jewish immigration during the Nazi era, and a new exhibit opened this week at the Museum of Jewish Heritage to tell this little-known story. Clothing, a menorah and photos of the one synagogue that was still stands in the town of Sosua in the Dominican Republic, were some of the many items that are on display.
Peter CardwellFeb. 19--His interview with Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman was winding to a close, but the TV reporter had one more question. “Er,” the journalist began, then plunged ahead: “Would you mind recording a message for my nephew’s bar mitzvah?” Without the blink of an eye, Newman looks straight into the camera and wishes his young fan a great day.
And so it went yesterday, as racing’s newest hero swept through New York on a whirlwind media tour that included the late-night show of his fellow Indiana native David Letterman and “LIVE with Regis and Kelly.”

Emily MeredithFeb. 19--Students from city community centers donned their aprons today for an "iron chef" cookoff. Like the popular Food Network show of the same name, the students participating in today’s competition were required to incorporate a particular ingredient into their dishes – in this case, milk.
Jed KimFeb. 19--Boxers Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe stood amid the remnants of movie sets at Planet Hollywood in Times Square this morning. Had they been actors, they couldn’t have played their roles any better. “You better be willing to die,” growled Hopkins, his face only inches away from his rival’s. “If you’re not, just make it easy on yourself and go home.” But it was the only direct show of aggression between the two fighters. At a press conference to discuss the upcoming Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight World Championship title fight, Calzaghe, 35, and Hopkins, 43, seemed more concerned with good boxing than they did in breaking each other down. That may be because the two titans are so evenly matched that theatrics won’t be necessary to attract viewers.
